I've done enough present-day settings, the next stage is scifi! Just getting in the mood with this quick concept painting. A scifi themed design/modeling project will be my focus for the next year and a bit. Hopefully with the experience from my last few assignments this one will turn out successful.

This is a more updated concept art piece for a the UDK environment I'm creating for the action analysis assignment. Next step is to really get into the 3D aspects.

Helmet Model
Helmet modeled in Maya/Zbrush, rendered in Keyshot. First time doing hard surface modeling in zbrush, so much fun!

Action Analysis Concept Art
This is some concept art for my major project this semester. I didn't get to finish all the designs I wanted, but this is what I have for now. I'll update this post as I finish the rest of the designs.

Dragon
Haven't updated this blog in a while cause last time I had an issue. Whenever I uploaded an image, blogger messed up the colors. It seems to be fixed now so gonna update more.
Painted this for my mother a while ago. There's going to be a bigger update later in the week for my current project so stay tuned!

Studies, 2 Approaches
The topic for week 7 of my study group was portraits. I tried 2 painting techniques. The first is a very tight rendering style, gets clean results at the expense of time. The second is really fast because I used no sketch, but I think it would be more difficult for me to pull this off without reference.

Plein Air Forest Studies
On a humid Friday I went plein air painting with Christine and my good friend Khoebe. It's nice to get off the computer, sketch outside and explore nature, had a lot of fun!

Various Character Designs
I did a pinup themed weekly with my animation buddies and during the week I also wanted to experiment with some fantasy, scifi and tattoo design. These are just the experiments.

More ROM Studies
Went to the ROM with a bunch of animation peeps again and we tore up the armory with our drawing skills. When these fourth graders came around for their tour, they were so awestruck by our artistic penmanship, their tour guide was forced to take them back to ground level.

UDK Landscape
I was going to wait until I progressed further before posting this, but I just discovered the site https://sketchfab.com/ which lets you upload and view models in the browser. It supports pretty dense files, so I felt like testing with a landscape I've been working on.
I used these video tutorials from Wenda extensively: https://www.youtube.com/user/wenda111287/videos
This is actually just an experiment to learn some tools, just wait until I begin showing off my two personal projects. But I still have a lot of work to do for them.

Weekly Challenge 2: Urban
Struggled a lot with this one! It's easy to get lost rendering and lose sense of the graphic shapes. Hopefully doing more traditional studies will help.

Motorcycle Themed Studies
I developed an obsession for motorcycles. Well I've always been interested in them but recently I started sketching them a lot. They're drawn from photos or Google Street View, which is why the quality of drawing is better than my life sketches. Also some loose character concepts.
